BONDOZA DIGITAL S.U.R.L., a company registered in Burundi, operates bondoza.com, a media and information platform, and magufy.com, an online marketplace. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information collected through Bondoza.com and its programs, including news and explainers, Menya-Nawe, Karitas Academy, Who Is Building Burundi, and related contact and submission forms. Information collected through Magufy.com is outside the scope of this policy.
Information you provide
We receive information you provide when contacting us, commenting, creating a student account, submitting a nomination, or requesting a profile correction. Depending on the feature, this may include your name, email address, account details, messages, information about a nominated person and their work, source links, and photographs or documents you choose to supply.
Please provide only information relevant to your request. Do not submit passwords, identity documents, financial account details, medical information, or another person’s private information without an appropriate reason and authority.
Karitas Academy learning records
Karitas Academy offers learner accounts. We process your name, email address, sign-in information and account settings to create and manage your account. Passwords are stored in protected form rather than displayed as readable text. We process enrollment, lesson completion, quiz attempts and scores to deliver courses and save progress. Where learning-time tracking is enabled, we record activity used to estimate time spent learning; this estimate does not prove continuous attention.
Learner accounts and progress records are not public profiles. Access is limited to authorized staff and service providers who need the information to operate, support or secure the Academy. We use these records for teaching, support and course administration.
Nominations and public profiles
Who Is Building Burundi receives nominations, profile updates and correction requests for editorial review. A submission does not automatically become a public profile. We may contact the submitter, the subject or relevant sources to check information.
Published profiles may include names, professional roles, organizations, projects, photographs, relevant background and source references. Submitter contact details, student records and private editorial correspondence are not automatically published. If we wish to attribute a private message or publish material supplied privately, we will explain the intended use and seek permission where appropriate.
Comments
Your display name and approved comment may appear publicly. Your email is used for administration and is not intended for public display. Comments may be moderated, held for review or removed. Avoid placing sensitive personal information in public comments.
Technical information and cookies
Website systems may process IP addresses, browser and device information, timestamps, pages visited and security events. We use essential cookies for functions such as sign-in and security. Google Analytics helps us understand website use and may use cookies or similar technologies. You can manage cookies through your browser and any privacy controls we provide. Blocking essential cookies may prevent some features from working.
Google sign in and WhatsApp
If you choose Google sign-in where available, we receive the account information authorized through that service, such as your name, email and profile image. Google also processes information under its own privacy policy.
Where WhatsApp support is offered, contacting us shares your phone number, profile details and messages with Bondoza and WhatsApp under its own privacy practices. Joining a group may reveal your phone number and messages to other participants. Joining a group is separate from creating an Academy account. Please avoid sharing passwords or sensitive personal information in chats.
Why we use information
We use information to provide courses and saved progress, respond to requests, review submissions, prepare and correct editorial content, moderate comments, understand website performance, prevent abuse, maintain security and meet applicable legal obligations. Any additional optional use, such as promotional messages, will be explained separately where required.
Sharing and processing locations
We use providers for hosting, analytics, communications, account functions and security. They may process information as needed to provide those services. Information may be processed outside Burundi depending on the providers used. We may disclose information where legally required or reasonably necessary to protect rights and security.
Retention and security
We retain account and learning records while needed to provide your account and saved progress. When you request deletion, we review and remove information no longer needed, subject to applicable legal, security and dispute-related requirements. Contact messages and nomination records are retained only as needed to handle the request, verify information and document editorial decisions. Published editorial material is assessed separately. Backup copies may remain until their normal replacement cycle and are not used for routine access.
Learner ages
Karitas Academy is intended for people aged 13 and older. Children under 13 should not create an Academy account or submit personal information through its registration forms. If you believe a younger child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action. Additional safeguards or permissions may apply to learners under 18 under applicable law.
Requests and contact
To request access, correction or deletion of your account or other personal information, email andikira@bondoza.com with the subject Privacy request. Identify the account or relevant page and describe your request. Do not send your password. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity. We will respond within applicable legal time limits and explain any information we must retain or other limits. Deleting an Academy account may remove saved progress and access to account-based features. Requests involving published journalism are assessed separately from account deletion.
We will update this policy when our practices change and display the effective date. Where applicable law requires further notice or consent, we will provide it.
